Hi mydarlingdaughter,
You had posted some questions on the previous forum that didn't get transfered over to this new one. Here are your answers:
Can you please give me a "concrete" example of one of the activities that would apply to item three:
[Activities of daily living that enhance social skills, independent living and personal management.]
Teaching Community awareness (how to cross the street, how to obey traffic signs/signals, how to use public transportation)
Joining and participating in a club
Participating in group sport activities
Contacting local hockey/baseball teams to participate in events, playing the sport, helping as a trainer...
1) Would the family or caregiver have to design and direct these?
Do they have to find staff?
Up to 10% of Passport allocation can be used to design a plan ( hire someone to do this) Yes, the family is responsible for hiring a worker. The worker, if you decide, can help your son or daughter with this.
2) Are programs or services such as these available to be purchased in
Sudbury? If so where?
You can contact local services to see if they can develop and/or provide the service (see Links), or you can hire your own worker. There are a variety of ways to hire a worker - advertise, word of mouth, contact the schools...we provide tips on how to do this...
3) What is meant by the word "enhance"?
develop, improve
